**Centrifugal Force** is the 123rd xkcd comic.

## ExplanationEdit

First, this is a James Bond reference. Specifically to the film Goldfinger's famous scene where Goldfinger sets up an elaborate way to kill Bond and tells him that he doesn't want him to talk-- he wants him to die.

Centripetal force is "A force that acts on a body moving in a circular path and is directed toward the center around which the body is moving." (Merriam-Webster)

Centifugal force is "An apparent force that acts outward on a body moving around a center, arising from the body's inertia." (Merriam-Webster)

A rotating system is a way to calculate the way something will act at each vertex point.

Coordinate substitution is a method of replacing variables in an equation with other variables in an effort to make calculating the equations easier.

Newton's Laws are as follows:

**First law:**Objects in motion stay in motion unless an external force acts upon it.**Second law**: An object at rest stays at rest unless a sufficient amount of force is exerted upon it. This is reflected in the equation Force = Mass * Acceleration (f = ma)**Third law**: Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Example: You kick a ball, and it exerts force against your foot, and, as your foot has more mass than the ball, the second law goes into effect and the ball goes flying off.

This comic basically is stating that centrifugal force is not a fictional term, as told to students by science teachers, but can easily be discovered by applying newton's laws in a rotating system. Bond is agahst-- do you really expect him to do coordinate substitution in his head while spinning around? Of course not. He's supposed to die.
